Now Celebrating our 17 Year Anniversary with Our "Lane Davenport" Signature Series Watches
Seventeen years ago this month Jim and Betty made a pact with each other and the people of South Lake County to serve the jewelry needs of their chosen community family with respect, courtesy, honesty, precise workmanship and fair pricing. The Village Goldsmith opened its doors for business on June 14, 1994 and has been at its present location under the same name and ownership since its opening. This is a family owned and operated business, and the talented staff are unmatched in the Lake County area.
The Village Goldsmith is a full service jewelry store that has on premises three master goldsmiths; Jim Johnson, Lloyd Burden and Jose Luis Carpio. The goldsmiths mentioned have over 85 years cumulative bench experience, and while jewelry sales, repairs, custom design and remounts are their stocks-in-trade, these craftsmen offer pearl and bead restringing as well. Many of our jewelry items in the shop are handmade in our store or assembled on-site by Lloyd, Jim and Jose. This unique jewelry repair, custom service and retail shop has been rewarded outstanding ratings with the South Lake Chamber of Commerce, the Better Business Bureau of Central Florida and the unwavering support of the business folks who have their family, friends, neighbors and partners.
Torri Kincaid is the customer relations expert & the owner’s daughter whose talents encompass all phases of client contact in addition to watch band repair, adjustment and battery replacement. Clock and watch repairs are accomplished through the addition of two independent master horologists (watchmakers).
You can always feel confident about leaving your treasures at The Village Goldsmith;
we care for your valuables like they are our own.
Feel free to stop by and browse in the showcase, you'll be glad you did!

Traditional Birthstone for February is the Amethyst

From refreshing lilac to ripe plum, the Amethyst demonstrates the drama and excitement of the color purple. Because of its depth and richness, the Amethyst has been associated to intense emotion. It's for that reason the legend of its origin is fitting, a tale of revenge, devotion and immortal remorse.
Legends tell the story of Dionysus the Greek God of wine, who was insulted one day by a mortal. Enraged' he called forth vicious tigers to exact revenge on the next mortal who would cross his path. The unfortunate maiden Amethyst on her way to pay tribute to the Goddess Diana was the unlucky traveler. The innocent girl suddenly found herself face-to-face with a tiger of the vengeful God. In order to save her from the beasts, Diana turned Amethyst into a statue of pure crystalline quartz. The crystalline maiden was so beautiful that Dionysus, in sorrow and remorse, wept tears of rich wine over the statue. His tears stained the quartz purple, thus creating the poetic gem that still bears her name. Origins of the name while sadly beautiful, Amethyst' exhibits happier connotations in modern society.
The gem is used to celebrate February birthdays as well as the fourth, sixth and ninth wedding anniversaries.
What ever the reason, the Amethyst is always a fabulous fashion choice.
