The Village Goldsmith Celebrates Twenty-First Anniversary
Wow! Can you believe that is has been 22 years since we (Jim and Betty Johnson) chose to share our dream in this Gem Of The Hills Community with you?
We opened The Village Goldsmith on June 14, 1994 at 630 W. Hwy 50, Clermont, and have been in the same location, with the same phone number
(352-394-4429), and the same dedication to quality workmanship, partnered with customer service. In short, we are the longest standing jewelry
store in the South Lake County.
While the consistency you have come to trust has been our watchword, we are looking ahead to making small upgrades to keep pace with South Lake County’s
ever changing population growth and demographics. Watch for them. We have no interest in becoming a big box store wannabe, so you may be assured that
our personalized way of conducting business will never change. Our custom design will always keep pace with the latest styles inspired by you, the true
imaginative designer. Your desire for one-of-a-kind pieces will continue to be respected with no duplication for any other customers.
Our customer relations expert is daughter Torri. She strives to enhance your experience with us by inserting her unique perspective of design and repair adjustments.
Always ready with a welcoming smile. Torri can change your watch batteries, recommend a gift for a loved one, or counsel your desire for a custom designed piece.
In addition, it is Torri’s voice you hear letting you know that your special item is ready for pick-up. Betty has the responsibility of restringing your beads and pearls.
Better to maintain the silken threads than lose what may be an heirloom strand of precious memories.
The Village Goldsmith offers custom design, intricate repair, and ready to wear items, clock and watch repair, battery replacement, pearl and bead maintenance.
Jim has even been known to repair trumpets and eyeglasses. Jose Carpio, who is a very faithful and experienced goldsmith, has been with us for ten years.
Together we make a great team. We try to do it all for you.
We have been rewarded for our integrity and dedication to the Clermont community with outstanding ratings from the South Lake Chamber of Commerce,
Better Business Bureau of Central Florida as an “Accredited Business”, and the unwavering support of you, the folks who have become our family,
friends, neighbors and partners.
Our commitment to you and yours has never wavered. We have always been and will continue to be Clermont’s jewelry repair and design shop of
choice, The Village Goldsmith.
We thank you again for keeping your business at home in South Lake County and helping us make our jewelry store your jewelry store, for

Traditional Birthstone for January is the Garnet
Its glowing deep red with hints of orange and brown reminds us of an autumn harvest or Indian summer. Wrapped in its warmth, one feels
protected against the storms ahead. The Mozambique Garnet was once believed to have healing properties, particularly with diseases related to blood.
The rich hue of Mozambique Garnet enhances deigns that blend exotic flavors. These styles reflect today's culturally rich society, giving special appeal
to those who seek a sophisticated look. The Red Garnet is typically the gem of choice for those born in January.
The Garnet family of gems encompasses a variety of groups and colors and mined in
India, Africa, Sir Lanka, Pakistan, Israel, Brazil & Australia.
Rhodolite Garnet' with its shimmering brilliance and raspberry freshness boasts undertones of rose and plum illuminating the night and
banishing the dark. It immediately lifts the spirits and creates lively, exuberant excitement. Tales of Garnet date back to the time of Noah,
who is said to have steered the Ark by a lantern made of this dazzling gem. Garnet jewels were also favored in ancient Rome and Egypt, where
they were believed to ward off evil. The astonishing brilliance of Garnet, now understood to result from its high refraction of light, may explain
the stone's legendary reputation.
The Spessartite Garnet with colors of spring flowers to autumn leaves and winter sunsets representing the color seen throughout the season.
With its rich hues the Spessartite is a gem with year-round fashion potential. Its natural color is ideal for those who seek accessories whose
beauty is unaltered. Spessartite Garnet was first discovered in the German Spessart Mountains, so little was found that the rare gem was
largely reserved for collectors. This remained so for many years until another source was discovered along the Kunene River. A later find
brought a small supply to market but still remains a limited gem.
The Tsavorite Garnet with its rich intense and very high brilliance is a refreshing surprise of sparkling verdant color. Its tones range from a light
spring green to a deep breathtaking shade of forest green, making it one of the few gems to rival the Emerald
in both color and beauty. Worldwide recognition of the gem came in 1974 when Tiffany & Co. began
promoting its magnificent color, depth and transparency.
What ever the reason the "Garnet" are always a fabulous fashion choices!
