The Village Goldsmith Celebrates Twenty-First Anniversary

Wow!  Can you believe that is has been 22 years since we (Jim and Betty Johnson) chose to share our dream in this Gem Of The Hills Community with you?
We opened The Village Goldsmith on June 14, 1994 at 630 W. Hwy 50, Clermont, and have been in the same location, with the same phone number
(352-394-4429), and the same dedication to quality workmanship,  partnered with customer service. In short, we are the longest standing jewelry
store in the South Lake County.

While the consistency you have come to trust has been our watchword, we are looking ahead to making small upgrades to keep pace with South Lake County’s
ever changing population growth and demographics. Watch for them.  We have no interest in becoming a big box store wannabe, so you may be assured that
our personalized way of conducting business will never change.  Our custom design will always keep pace with the latest styles inspired by you, the true
imaginative designer.  Your desire for one-of-a-kind pieces will continue to be respected with no duplication for any other customers.

Our customer relations expert is daughter Torri. She strives to enhance your experience with us by inserting her unique perspective of design and repair adjustments.
Always ready with a welcoming smile. Torri can change your watch batteries, recommend a gift for a loved one, or counsel your desire for a custom designed piece.
In addition, it is Torri’s voice you hear letting you know that your special item is ready for pick-up.  Betty has the responsibility of restringing your beads and pearls.
Better to maintain the silken threads than lose what may be an heirloom strand of precious memories.

The Village Goldsmith offers custom design, intricate repair, and ready to wear items, clock and watch repair, battery replacement, pearl and bead maintenance.
Jim has even been known to repair trumpets and eyeglasses. Jose Carpio, who is a very faithful and experienced goldsmith, has been with us for ten years.
Together we make a great team. We try to do it all for you.

We have been rewarded for our integrity and dedication to the Clermont community with outstanding ratings from the South Lake Chamber of Commerce,
Better Business Bureau of Central Florida as an “Accredited Business”, and the unwavering support of you, the folks who have become our family,
friends, neighbors and partners.

Our commitment to you and yours has never wavered.  We have always been and will continue to be Clermont’s jewelry repair and design shop of
choice, The Village Goldsmith.

We thank you again for keeping your business at home in South Lake County and helping us make our jewelry store your jewelry store, for
yet another amazing year.

This weeks Q & A:
How often should I have my Jewelry inspected?

( See Internet Specials page for the answer )

Traditional Birthstones for June are the "Alexandrite and Pearl"

Alexandrite

Night and day, the changing hues of Alexandrite enchant the eye and fuel the imagination.  It's mesmerizing color
swings from red to green depending on the light source, making it the most famous and popular of all
color-changing gems.  First discovered in the Ural Mountains of Russia in the 1830s, this gem helped celebrate
the coming of age of Czar, Alexander II.  The name Alexandrite was bestowed on this newly found Chrysoberyl
as a tribute to the young royal, and its green and red colors reflective of tsarist Russia.  The hypnotic beauty of
Alexandrite makes it a gem prized by connoisseurs.  While Russia is a limited source, Brazil, Madagascar, India and
Sri Lanka are other global sources for this alluring gem.  Sizes above 1 carat are rare and finer quality gems are often
more expensive than comparably sized Ruby or Sapphire.  Alexandrite that displays a 100% change in color from red
to green is most desirable.  Due to its ability to change dramatically in shifting light, Alexandrite is associated with
balanced life, self-esteem and the ability to experience joy.  According to legend, these powers are imparted to
the gem's wearers.  Often used to celebrate June birthdays, Alexandrite also commemorates the 45th & 55th
wedding anniversaries

Pearl

The Pearl is the modern June birthstone.  Pearls have been a passion and an obsession of people throughout
the ages.  These gems have adorned crowns, clothing temples and were said to be a favorite of Cleopatra.
The Greeks believed that pearls were the hardened tears of joy that the goddess of love shook from her eyes
as she was born from the sea.  The pearl is said to bring purity, innocence, integrity, concentration, focus,
honesty serenity and wisdom.

What ever the reason the "Alexandrite and or Pearl" are always fabulous fashion choices
