"Happy New Year"

Now Celebrating our 17 Year Anniversary with Our "Lane Davenport" Signature Series Watches

Seventeen years ago this month Jim and Betty made a pact with each other and the people of South Lake County to serve the jewelry needs of their chosen community family with respect, courtesy, honesty, precise workmanship and fair pricing. The Village Goldsmith opened its doors for business on June 14, 1994 and has been at its present location under the same name and ownership since its opening. This is a family owned and operated business, and the talented staff are unmatched in the Lake County area.
The Village Goldsmith is a full service jewelry store that has on premises three master goldsmiths; Jim Johnson, Lloyd Burden and Jose Luis Carpio. The goldsmiths mentioned have over 85 years cumulative bench experience, and while jewelry sales, repairs, custom design and remounts are their stocks-in-trade, these craftsmen offer pearl and bead restringing as well. Many of our jewelry items in the shop are handmade in our store or assembled on-site by Lloyd, Jim and Jose. This unique jewelry repair, custom service and retail shop has been rewarded outstanding ratings with the South Lake Chamber of Commerce, the Better Business Bureau of Central Florida and the unwavering support of the business folks who have their family, friends, neighbors and partners.
Torri Kincaid is the customer relations expert & the owner’s daughter whose talents encompass all phases of client contact in addition to watch band repair, adjustment and battery replacement. Clock and watch repairs are accomplished through the addition of two independent master horologists (watchmakers).
You can always feel confident about leaving your treasures at The Village Goldsmith;
we care for your valuables like they are our own.
Feel free to stop by and browse in the showcase, you'll be glad you did!
Independent appraisals are always available by appointment.
Thank you again South Lake County for keeping your business at home and helping us
make our business your jeweler of choice.
Jim & Betty Johnson, Proprietors
Proud member, in good standing with the South Lake Chamber of Commerce

Traditional Birthstone for January is the Garnet
Mozambique Garnet

Its glowing deep red with hints of orange and brown reminds us of an autumn harvest or Indian summer. Wrapped in its warmth, one feels protected against the storms ahead. The Mozambique Garnet was once believed to have healing properties, particularly with diseases related to blood. The rich hue of Mozambique Garnet enhances deigns that blend exotic flavors. These styles reflect today's culturally rich society, giving special appeal
to those who seek a sophisticated look. The Red Garnet is typically the gem of choice for those born in January.
The Garnet family of gems encompasses a variety of groups and colors and mined in
India, Africa, Sir Lanka, Pakistan, Israel, Brazil & Australia.
Rhodolite Garnet

Rhodolite Garnet' with its shimmering brilliance and raspberry freshness boasts undertones of rose and plum illuminating the night and
banishing the dark. It immediately lifts the spirits and creates lively, exuberant excitement. Tales of Garnet date back to the time of Noah,
who is said to have steered the Ark by a lantern made of this dazzling gem. Garnet jewels were also favored in ancient Rome and Egypt, where
they were believed to ward off evil. The astonishing brilliance of Garnet, now understood to result from its high refraction of light, may explain
the stone's legendary reputation.
Spessartite Garnet

The Spessartite Garnet with colors of spring flowers to autumn leaves and winter sunsets representing the color seen throughout the season.
With its rich hues the Spessartite is a gem with year-round fashion potential. Its natural color is ideal for those who seek accessories whose
beauty is unaltered. Spessartite Garnet was first discovered in the German Spessart Mountains, so little was found that the rare gem was
largely reserved for collectors. This remained so for many years until another source was discovered along the Kunene River. A later find
brought a small supply to market but still remains a limited gem.
Tsavorite Garnet

The Tsavorite Garnet with its rich intense and very high brilliance is a refreshing surprise of sparkling verdant color. Its tones range from a light spring green to a deep breathtaking shade of forest green, making it one of the few gems to rival the Emerald in both color and beauty. Worldwide recognition of the gem came in 1974 when Tiffany & Co. began promoting its magnificent color, depth and transparency.
